Intel To Release Fibre Channel over Ethernet Support for 10GbE Adapters

HardwareOrlando, Fla. – Intel has announced Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) support on its family of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) server adapters. The company has developed an initiator that will be bundled with Intel 10GbE server adapters for PCI Express to enable FCoE functionality. Intel also introduced the Intel 10 Gigabit AF DA Dual Port Server Adapter, a low-cost FCoE-capable copper adapter with an energy-efficient, low-profile design for rack installations in the data center.

DVI will decline from 112 million device shipments in 2007 to just 3 million device shipments in 2011, the high-tech market research firm says. FTC, Data Solutions Reach Settlement of Ethernet Autonegotiation Patent

HardwareWashington, D.C. – The Federal Trade Commission has announced a complaint and settlement with Negotiated Data Solutions LLC (N-Data), which allegedly violated federal law by engaging in unfair methods of competition and unfair acts or practices regarding its enforcement of certain patents against makers of equipment employing Ethernet, a computer networking standard used in nearly every computer sold in the U.S. The settlement will protect consumers from higher prices and ensure competition by preventing the company from charging higher royalties for the technologies used in the standard.
