"With the release of the new version of UC4:global, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting the highest number of platforms and applications," said Vincent Stueger, senior vice president of product marketing and development at UC4. "Our development focus is to continue improving the software's usability."
With the release of version 3.02B, UC4 enhances the software's capabilities on several platforms and applications, including Siebel, HP OpenView Operations, operating systems on Itanium, SAP on Linux and Oracle 10g. Upgraded features include an auto forecast function, which displays tasks scheduled to run within a specified time period; Web services enhancements including a browser-based interface; and integrated version management, allowing for increased transparency.
"UC4:global's integrated version management sets new benchmarks for job scheduling," Stueger said. "UC4:global is the first job scheduler worldwide to offer a function that lets users retrace changes and identify who executed what change and when. This function significantly increases operational safety."
Air Products, based in Bethlehem, PA, specializes in providing atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials and chemical intermediates to technology, energy, healthcare and industrial markets. Air Products began using the UC4 job scheduler in 2000 and was an early adopter of the new version.
Terry Terfinko of Air Products' Global IT/Production Services team, identified the software's ability to deliver job scheduling to respond to its global demands as a key component in processing at least 400,000 jobs monthly on more than 1,000 servers.
"UC4:global has enabled us to scale our job scheduling needs, offering a solid platform for growth," Terfinko added. "With the new version of UC4:global behind us, we feel comfortable and confident as we continue to grow and expand our business operations."
