Distro Snapshot | LinuxElectrons

LinuxElectrons is providing a new feature called Distro Snapshot. Distro Snapshot is a color coded graphical representation of a Linux distribution. The goal is to provide help in the decision making process in which distribution to choose. The benchmarks have been chosen with the average user in mind.

Legend

Green – up to date. Should not have any issue\'s.
Yellow – some components might be out of date or missing, and has some minor issue\'s.
Red – components are out of date or has a major impact on the GNU/Linux experience.

Helpful Hints

Read the release notes of the distribution.
Read the distribution errata if any.
Perform a Google search using your hardware configuration and distribution choice to uncover any issue\'s that you might experience.

Notes and Disclaimers

The Distro Snapshot will list the top five distributions as ranked by DistroWatch. The “Out of the Box” experience is weighted heavily. There may be “workaround\'s”, CLI commands and so forth, but these are generally a nuisance and beyond the average user. Distro Snapshot is not an authoritative treatment on the technical merits of a distribution.
