I have been looking for a solid 64 bit version of Linux for my HP Notebook (DV8315nr) since I've had it, a little over a year now. I have gotten close, but still no joy with Compiz on 64 bits. To be far, this is most likely because of the ATI Radeon 200M video processor, not most of the distros. I do have a great working 32 bit Linux (all the bells and whistles functional) using PCLinuxOS 2007. But, as I must run a number of Windows apps I have little choice but to either dual-boot (don't like dual-boots), or use VirtualBox on top of Linux. Too many problems (yet) with native support for much of my Windows apps using Wine, CodeWeavers or Caldera. As VirtualBox is the best for me right now for Windows apps, I'm just wondering if the recently released version which has support for 64 bit Windows will make things faster and/or smoother -- Yet another reason I want 64 bits working. I want to try this, but I DO NOT want to give up Compiz or AWN (Avant Window Navigator) as I find both super-functional and they absolutely speed me up as I multi task everything I do it seems.
